Gigabit Ethernet is our newest and fastest serial interface, with ample bandwidth for our highest pixel rates. Our GigE interface is capable of 80MBytes/second transfer (point-to-point), over 300 foot maximum cable lengths. The camera interface has 64MB of on-board DRAM buffer to temporarily store image data for transmission over slower networks. GigE does not require expensive frame grabbers. Maximum Gigabit Ethernet performance requires a single point-to-point connection to the widely-available Intel pro/1000 series NIC (network interface card, available for either PCI or PCIe) connected by a standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable. |
